About

Leonard (Len) Rooney has been working in Vancouver as a graphic designer and illustrator since the early 80's. His experience includes designing print and display materials for a broad range of industries including retail and corporate advertising, manufacturers and distributors, food and hospitality, tourism, services and government.

Having begun his career before the popular advent of personal computers, Leonard developed a strong range of traditional drawing board and manual print production skills. Most of these skills have now been replaced by digital methods but the overall experience and basic production insights continue to inform his design and production decisions. The basics of good design, typography, print/display production and project management haven't really changed much.

In the late 80's, Leonard was one of the early adopters of Mac computers as design tools and has grown up with the platform and it's associated design software since.

In the early 90's, he was a participant of early popular emergence of the internet. He learned to hand code html while designing his first corporate website in 1994. Since that time he has been steadily learning and improving his web design and programming skills. He is now also a programmer and can write code in several popular languages.

In his spare time, Leonard is also an artist, photographer, amateur videographer and musician.
